Mark your calendars! We’ll meet in the library 2/11 @ 7 pm!

In response to interest and what I think is probably a general need in some EMU Halle Library “literacy,” we’ll have an optional face to face meeting on Thursday, February 11, from 7 pm to 9 pm. We’ll start in room G11 (which is on the ground floor/basement level, kind of toward where the Paradox Cafe is), but we’ll probably move around to look at the physical layout of the building a bit.  One of the things I think is interesting in going to the Halle Library is the way that the space is set up to facilitate technology in both good and bad ways.

Our leader/guide for this is Keith “Library Guy” Stanger, who I’ve been working with on similar tours and activities since coming to EMU.  Keith has been invested in technology and library science for a long time– his entire career, as far as I can tell– and every time I go to one of his sessions about using the resources and databases available through Halle, I always learn something new.  So try to make it!

Oh, and PS: if you’ve got some particular questions/issues you want to ask and/or have covered on Thursday, why not post about them here?  I’m passing the link to this post on to Keith so maybe he’ll chime in before we actually meet.

Thanks, Dr. Krause, for setting this up! It will be good to hear what Keith has to say and learn some new things. I will definitely be there. I’m looking forward to seeing (most) everyone!

A thank you from me too. I go to library all the time mostly for fast internet so it will be nice to see where some real things are instead of a electrical plug for my laptop. See everyone next Thursday.

Some initial hand-holding is always appreciated. :-)
Thanks much, and see you all next week, if not before!
